The book seeks to find out, by looking at one account of Jesus the Gospel of Matthew whether we can like him. If Jesus is actually God, then our emotional reaction to him, as opposed to our intellectual response, becomes tremendously important: would we like God if we met him, heard him speak, and saw him in action? Would Jesus teachings and his personality move me to affection for him, so much so that I would change the priorities of my life? Would I like what he has to say? Would I like him?
